Poppy and Petals are our beloved mini-donkeys—gentle, kind-hearted, and full of quiet charm. Affectionately nicknamed “The Minokeys” (short for “mini donkeys”), this sweet pair came to us from a loving family right here in Portage County, Ohio, and have been inseparable ever since.

Poppy, named after the poppy seed flower, likes to think of herself as the boss. She has definite opinions about how and where she likes to be scratched and isn’t shy about letting you know! Petals, named for the petal-shaped brown markings on her coat, is a bit more reserved at first—but with a few gentle pats, she’ll quickly warm up and become your friend.

These two share a deep, bonded friendship, and one of the most heartwarming things about them is how they invite you into that connection. They are calm, steady, and consistent—teaching us each day the value of presence, patience, and simply being still.

When they’re not quietly grazing side by side (their favorite thing to do), you might catch them playing together—grunting adorably and running in short, joyful bursts. It’s always a treat, especially considering speed isn’t exactly their specialty!
