ELLIE
EQUINE PARTNER
Ellie is a graceful, athletic bay Quarter Horse and the respected head mare of our herd. Quiet, thoughtful, and wise, Ellie takes her role seriously—always watching out for the wellbeing of those around her, both human and horse.
Known affectionately as “Momma Mare,” Ellie is a steady, grounding presence. She loves simply being near you, gently sharing space and offering quiet companionship. Her favorite things include hanging out with her people, being ridden, and tackling obstacles with focus and finesse—she’s truly a star in the arena.
Ellie has a good, steady mind and a deep desire to please. Despite her brave exterior, she tends to hide her own feelings and will often push through discomfort to do what’s asked of her—even when she’s feeling unsure or afraid. Because of that, we interact with Ellie in ways that help her feel safe, supported, and heard. She reminds us daily of the importance of being calm, clear, and connected.
Ellie’s past is largely unknown. She was purchased at an auction by Dayton Wolcott of Wolcott Versatility Horses in New York, who saw her beauty and excellent conformation. Dayton spent six months helping her heal, grow stronger, and learn to trust again. While she carries trauma from her earlier life and can still become reactive when triggered, Ellie’s willingness to connect and her caring nature shine through in powerful ways.
Those who spend time with her quickly discover just how much she gives—and how deeply she cares. Ellie is not just a leader in the herd, but a gentle teacher and healer in our HopeBrook family.
